The Lost Shoe

Ever see a lone shoe along side the road? I often wonder what the story is behind that lost shoe. Because it is obviously lost. Shoes come in pairs. There is no benefit to having one shoe without the other shoe.

I know the story behind this shoe. It belongs to our grandson, Micah. We met up for supper at our usual Sunday night spot, Wendy's. Our happy go lucky guy was obviously distressed. He was sitting in his chair with only one shoe. When he arrived at Wendy's, he could not find his other shoe. His dad looked all over the van. He did not find the missing shoe. His family had spent the afternoon at a local water park. The assumption was that somehow the shoe had fallen out of the van unnoticed and was left in the parking lot.

Our supper prayer included a request to find the missing shoe. Micah just wasn't his usual self during our time together. It really bothered him to have one shoe on and one shoe off. Even the prospect of replacing his well worn shoes with another new pair at home did not console him. He wanted his missing shoe. Grandpa volunteered us to drive by the water park before going to our home. That gave Micah some comfort.

We drove into the park and back to the general area we were told the shoe could possibly be. And there it was. A lone shoe in the middle of the deserted parking lot. Such a victorious moment. What was lost was now found. Next was a phone call to a little guy to tell him the good news. Always great to share good news!

Just been thinking instead of seeing a lost shoe or sole....what about seeing a forgotten soul looking lost on the corner of a busy street or holding a sign with a destination needing a ride. How did this one end up here? What is the story behind this lost soul? Who will find this one? Who will tell the good news? Always great to share good news! There is victory in Jesus. Spread the good news! "I once was lost but now am found, Was blind, but now I see."
